How to perform a system recovery on the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook.

If you ever need to return your Chromebook or if you want to pass it on to another user, this is how you do it:

1. Press and hold the power button and select the shut down option.

2. Open the piece of plastic by the SIM card slot and you should see a little switch.

3. Use a paperclip or pen tip to slide that developer switch.

4. Press the power button to turn on the device.

5. Press and hold “Ctrl” and then press “d”
6. The computer will automatically start erasing the local data (your stuff you want to reset) to prepare for booting into developer mode.
7. Wait about 6 minutes for everything to erase (should have a status bar at the top of the screen telling you the ETA.
– The screen should say something like: “Preparing system for Developer Mode. This may take a while. Do not turn your computer off until it has restarted.
8. The computer will restart when finished and will go to the initial startup screen to allow you to setup the Chromebook (like it’s new).
9. Turn off the computer and flip the little switch (from step #3) back to normal mode.
10. Start the computer again and after a few minutes (2-3), it will show you the initial start up screen except now you’re in Normal mode.
11. Now you can sell it, trade it, or whatever you wanted to reset it for!
